District 4 Tribute Tara Macken Can Swing A Sword!

Tara Macken, who plays one of the District Four tributes, has some serious skills!

The actress and stunt woman showed off some of her sword-swinging moves in this video.

She’s certainly got some abilities that look more intimidating than cake-making (sorry Peeta)…

New Shots Of Josh Hutcherson As Peeta In 'The Hunger Games'

Gotta love these promo shots of Josh Hutcherson in "The Hunger Games" arena woods, looking all hot and woodsy... lol!  We like the last one best.  Which is your favorite?

We keep waiting to see the photos of him buried in the mud. We hope that they filmed that scene right!

Effie Trinket In All Her Glory!

Team Peeta loves this photo of Elizabeth Banks (Effie Trinket) and Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen).  It looks like it was snapped after Katniss volunteers to take her sister's place in the Hunger Games.

We're big fans of Elizabeth Banks - who is delightfully funny, playful and adorable in these interviews.  And wowzer, what a transformation!

We can't wait to see her multiple crazy looks throughout the movie!

But now, how stoked are we about this adorable Peeta t-shirt:

And how cute are these Mrs. Mellark tees???

Josh Hutcherson On Katniss’ Flaming Costume: ‘It’s Very Cool, I Promise You’

The one and only Josh Hutcherson sat down with MTV and talked “Hunger Games”!

On the costumes:

The costumes in the arena are very practical, which they had to be, not only for the purpose of the characters but also for us as actors because sometimes it was 95 degrees in the forest, and you're running around and you want to make sure you're wearing the right clothes and the appropriate attire and the right kind of shoes and everything. So we made it very real.

On Katniss’ Flaming Outfit:

The one that's on fire, I don't want to say anything about that yet, you'll have to wait for it. It's very cool, I promise you. It's very cool.

And he also talks about how much he loooves the fans (we love you too, Josh)! To read the rest of MTV’s interview, click here!

Will 'The Hunger Games' Be Four Movies?!?

Is "The Hunger Games" pulling a "Twilight"?

In this MTV video Woody mentions that he signed on for "four friggin' movies"!

Sounds to us like Lionsgate is keeping their options over in case they have a mega-franchise on their hands!

Secrets From 'The Hunger Games' Hair Stylists!

It's amazing how much hair work goes into a movie, and this post from InStyle breaks it down like no other! The movie has 45 (that's right forty-five!!) hairstylists, who create the hair looks and wig for over 400 cast members of "The Hunger Games."  Some great bits of hair-formation:
500: Cast members and extras who had their eyebrows bleached, including Elizabeth Banks, who plays Effie Trinket.
20: Minutes spent creating Katniss Everdeen’s signature braid for Jennifer Lawrence.
3: Colored wigs worn by Elizabeth Banks: One pink, one green, and one lavender.
1: Wig worn by Stanley Tucci, who plays Caesar Flickerman. “It’s a dark navy blue wig in a Karl Lagerfeld-style ponytail,” she says.
Whose hair are you most excited to see on the big screen?

New 'Hunger Games' Books

Sounds like there are some companion "Hunger Games" books coming out in tandem to the movies!
Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, today announced the publication of a fourth title in the movie tie-in program for The Hunger Games coming in Spring 2012. The newest title announced is The Hunger Games Tribute Guide, the ultimate Tribute guide to the 24 Tributes featured in the upcoming film.
Three of the movie tie-in titles will be released February 7, 2012, in advance of the much-anticipated March 2012 feature film release: The Hunger Games: Movie Tie-In Edition ($12.99, February 7, 2012, ISBN: 978-0-545-42511-7), The Hunger Games: Official Illustrated Movie Companion ($18.99, February 7, 2012, ISBN: 978-0-545-42290-1) and the just-announced The Hunger Games Tribute Guide, ($7.99, February 7, 2012, ISBN: 978-0-545-45782-8). The previously announced The World of The Hunger Games ($17.99, March 23, 2012; ISBN: 978-0-545-42512-4) will be released simultaneously with The Hunger Games film on March 23, 2012. Scholastic will publish and deliver all four movie tie-in titles through all of its distribution channels both domestically and internationally.
Are you excited for the new books? Would you buy them?

'The Hunger Games' Arena: Fan Renditions!

I know we've all pictured what the arena looks like in "The Hunger Games". The lake, the Cornucopia, the river, the cave that Katniss and Peeta hunkered down in... But here are some young reader's renditions of the arena in their minds.

From Youngsreading:

All New 'Hunger Games' Photos!

Holy Mother of Panem! Vanity Fair released these awesome shots of the cast of the "Hunger Games."

Is it just us or is the cast photo is hilarious - it looks like a Gap ad, all sweet and wholesome, when in fact the characters are competing until death. Foxface looks like she's about to frolic in a bed of wildflowers.

But the best is, of course, the pictures of Katniss, Peeta and that other guy (what, we forget his name around here...) Josh Hutcherson is looking waaaay blonde in these photos versus the set pictures we saw earlier.

What do you think of this awesome-ness (if in fact, you think it's as awesome as we do)? Oh, and the cast shot is interactive - click here and mouse over the characters to see how they landed the roles!

Jennifer Lawrence On 'Hunger Games': It's Not 'Twilight'

Make no mistake. Jennifer Lawrence wants you to know that "Hunger Games" is no "Twilight."

Vanity Fair spoke with Jennifer, who told the mag that, "'Hunger Games' is not 'Twilight,' and while I hear the comparisons, it's really premature to say that it will be the same phenomenon."

As for embodying Katniss Everdeen, the girl from District 12, Jennifer is well aware of how great of a character she is:
"Katniss is an incredible character: she’s a hunter but not a killer, a 16-year-old who’s being forced into the arena. These kids are killing one another only because if they don’t they’ll die. It’s needless, pointless, unjustified violence. It’s heartbreaking. When I auditioned, I told [director] Gary [Ross], “I understand if you don’t hire me, but please remember that after Katniss shoots a bow and kills someone, her face cannot be badass.” So there’s nothing cool about her. It’s not like she looks around the arena and goes, Yeah, I got this. I think she looks around helplessly, and thinks, I made a promise to my sister that I would survive; now I have to kill in order to do so."
For the rest of the great interview, click here!

What do you think?  Will "Hunger Games" be as big of a phenomenon as "Twilight"?
